National Champion Brighouse & Rastrick has announced that Andy Moore has been appointed solo horn as the West Riding band prepares for their British Open appearance at Symphony Hall on September 8th.
The highly respected player is no stranger to the principal position, and led the Brighouse horn section on Edward Gregson's 'Of Distant Memories' at the Royal Albert Hall in 2013.
Well deserved
A spokesman for B&R told 4BR: "Andy is one of top banding's relatively unsung heroes; an outstanding player and a bandsman who can be relied upon both on and off the stage.
This permanent appointment to the role is well deserved and welcomed by all the team at Brighouse.
In response Andy told 4BR: "After seven years with the band it's a real honour to step up to solo horn. The opportunity to work with Prof David King on a principal seat is hugely appealing, and I'm looking forward to leading a section filled with excellent musicality and experience."
It was also confirmed that the band has signed the experienced Trevor McCormick on first horn, with long serving veteran Ian Dust completing the team.
