Old Silkstone Band have just returned from Ireland after being invited to take part in the International Street Arts Festival — Spraoi

The Yorkshire band performed two very different programmes in their concerts over the weekend; a Disney themed set where they were dressed up as various characters as well as more traditional music and attire.

Amazing

Band spokesperson Danni Brookes told 4BR: "I can honestly say the weekend we have just enjoyed was absolutely amazing. It's great that these strong friendships are built through music as we all had so much fun and thoroughly enjoyed being part of the Spraoi.

We are already getting ideas down on paper to have the City of Waterford Band come over to Barnsley for a concert or two. We can already see our next 'YorkshEire' brass band adventure on the horizon."

Amazing weekend

In return, Kevin Power of the City of Waterford Band added: "It was an amazing weekend and a very proud moment for me to have my friends from Old Silkstone Band perform in Waterford. My thanks go to the guys and girls who made a dream come through."

During the weekend Old Silkstone also attended an official reception hosted by Metropolitan Mayor Cllr Joe Kelly.
