Tredegar Band undertook their last concert before their summer break of what has been a busy high profile schedule by providing the accompaniment to the communal hymn singing at the traditional Sunday Cymanfa Ganu at the Welsh National Eisteddfod in Cardiff.

Held at the 1900 seat Donald Gordon Theatre at the Wales Millennium Centre, the specially arranged hymns such as 'Bro Aber', 'Bryn Myrddin', 'Sanctus', 'Blaenwern' and 'Aberystwyth' were led by the choral conductor Delyth Lloyd with the event were broadcast on the national S4C Welsh language channel on Sunday evening.

Busy time

Band spokesperson Chris Davies told 4BR: "It's been a busy time of late for the band with these important appearances in London, Innsbruck and now Cardiff.

We're grateful for the extra help we've had from some friends for this performance — especially Paul Hughes who has flown in from Norway to take on his traditional role as one of the Eisteddfod ceremonial trumpeters alongside our own Dewi Griffiths."
