4BR has been informed that after eight years at the helm, David Neil has stepped down from his conducting duties with Buckhaven & Methil Miners Band.

David conducted the band for the last time at a concert at the local St. Andrews Bandstand — rounding off a tenure that saw the band claim the Fife Brass Band Festival title on two occasions and secure podium finishes at the Scottish Championships in both the Fourth and Third Sections.

Excellent progress

A spokesperson told 4BR: "During his tenure the band has made excellent progress and worked in musical harmony.

David is moving on to pastures new and we wish him and his family good luck for the future. A new MD is already in place, with Andy Shaw now picking up the baton. Andy has worked with us in the past so we are looking forward to the year ahead with a variety of engagements."
