ASTLEY
There will be plenty of great musical opportunities for lots of youngsters

Astley Youth Band is set to host a three day Summer School at Bedford High School in Leigh, with two outstanding trombone tutors Tom Dunnett and Simon Minshall heading up an awesome line up of tutors.

The free course is open to all young brass players and percussionists under the age of 21 and will start on Tuesday 24th July — running through to Thursday 26th, from 10.00am to 4.00pm each day at Bedford High School, Manchester Road, Leigh, (WN7 2LU).

Great opportunity

A spokesperson told 4BR: "We hope this presents a great opportunity for young players to meet new friends and to make great music together. The last two courses have been a great success.

As well as playing in the band, the youngsters have the opportunity to gain Arts Awards at Explore and Discover level."

The course is funded by Youth Music, and has been masterminded by tuba player Samantha Raisbeck, who grew up in Astley Youth Band, and is now enjoying a his musical career teaching locally and working with the National Children's Orchestra. He is currently playing with the Orchestra of Welsh National Opera.
