A new musical initiative by the Rhondda Fach Youth Band is aimed at getting youngsters from all over Wales to enjoy a weekend of fun and adventure — as well as a bit of practice.

Young brass and percussion players are being offered the opportunity to enjoy an exciting musical break in September to help develop their playing skills.

Run and organised by the Rhondda Fach Youth Band, the weekend residential event will be held at Manor Adventure — based at Abernant Lake Hotel in Powys from Friday to Sunday, 21st — 23rd September.

Open to any youngster

The course is open to any young players and is geared towards plenty of fun and music making.

For instance, the Friday evening will involve an introduction session with the full band before splitting into sectional workshops with instrumental tutors, whilst Saturday morning will see more sectional workshops before it's off to enjoy the fantastic outdoor activities run by specialist adventure tutors.

Manor Adventure has an outstanding reputation for offering outdoor pursuits right in the heart of Wales.

Saturday evening will consist of full band rehearsals and an opportunity to socialise with new friends, with Sunday morning being out to great use with final preparations for a 'Family Concert' to conclude the course.

We want to offer a fantastic opportunity for youngsters who wish to combine their playing with plenty of funorganisers

Fantastic opportunity

A spokesperson told 4BR: "We want to offer a fantastic opportunity for youngsters who wish to combine their playing with plenty of fun.

The outdoor activities at Manor Adventure are brilliant and are the perfect way to enable everyone to have plenty of safe, exciting exercise fun. There are full safeguarding procedures in place.

The music making has a very specific aim too — increasing confidence and skill sets surrounded by friends old and new. As an organisation this is Rhondda Fach's way of giving a little back, so we hope lots of youngsters will come along and enjoy a weekend to remember."
