One of the most popular bands taking part in the recent Whit Friday contests in Saddleworth was Chav Brass — an ensemble formed in 2007 of friends from various bands across the world.
So much so that this year's performance at the famous Delph contest has been seen well over a million times on the social media site, 'Pretty 52'.
Diverse sources
The band is put together by Aidan Smith, solo horn at Manger Musiklaag, and over the years have performed music from diverse sources such as the 'Blues Brothers', Darude's 'Sandstorm', Snap's 'Rhythm is a Dancer', 2unlimited's 'No limit' and Cascada's 'Everytime We Touch', along with this year's Avicii medley and their staple classic, DJ Sammy's remix of the Bryan Adams classic 'Heaven'.
Once again the band met for the first time on the day, before having a quick run-through. Then it was fun, fun, fun as they entertained the crowds with their music making — this year under MD Neil Samuel.

Fantastic time
Spokesperson Paul Smith told 4BR: "We had another fantastic time and enjoyed some success with top-six finishes at Lees and Diggle.
It's not about making money, as we are only just about breaking even, but who knows in the future. It's great being recognised though, so perhaps there will be a Chav Brass Cup for 'Best Soloist' at the Nationals some day."
