4BR has been informed that the Reg Vardy Band has lost its final appeal against its disqualification from the 2018 North of England Regional Championship.
It is understood that the Fishburn Band has now been officially invited to compete at the Royal Albert Hall in October.
The band initially appealed to the North of England Regional Committee following its disqualification from the contest over an alleged contravention of the contest rules. This appeal was lost and a second appeal was made to the Independent Appeals Panel appointed by Kapitol Promotions.
Respect decision
Reg Vardy Band Manager Les Palmer told 4BR: "Whilst we maintain our position over the matter, we respect the decision that has been made and we move on.
The band has the Dr Martin Wainstone Cup title to defend in September and is looking forward to our appearance at the Brass in Concert Championship."
The panel, made up of three respected regional committee representatives from other Area organisations, reviewed the evidence once more before reaching their decision.
