Crosskeys Silver Band has announced the appointment of Cory euphonium player Sion Jones as their new Musical Director.
It will be the north-Walian's first conducting role and follows the recent departure of Mike Davies from the Fourth Section band.
Positives
Sion told 4BR: "Crosskeys has such a lot of positives, and I'm confident that we can take the next step in development. I've been really impressed with their approach and I look forward to working with them."

Exciting time
Band Chairman Tom Rogers added: "The band has enjoyed a successful period of development under Mike Davies, topping it off with an excellent runner-up placing at the recent SEWBBA contest. We thank Mike for his efforts and wish him the best of luck for the future.
He added: "We now are fortunate to capture another excellent musician in Sion. This is an exciting time for the band and I know that he has great to carry on our solid progress on both the contest and concert platforms."
Over the years the band has gained a respected reputation for nurturing young conducting talent — from the likes of John Childs to Nigel Weeks, Adrian Harris and Benjamin Atkinson.
