The Flixton Band has welcomed the arrival of its new Musical Director Matt Ryan.

A spokesperson told 4BR: "We're currently working towards our return to the National Finals in Cheltenham in September we are keen to start working with Matt to get a great result there.

Matt has a broad range of experience in the brass and orchestral worlds and has built a sound reputation as a conductor with bands in the North West area over the last ten years. He is in fact an old Flixton player from one of the bands most successful periods so we hope to recapture some of that form under his leadership."

Positive attitude

In response, Matt added: "I'm excited about this opportunity as there is a lot of potential at Flixton. They have great set of players and a positive attitude which is always a recipe for success."

Exciting concerts

Meanwhile, Band Manager Paul Thomason commented: "We look forward to a long and successful association, starting with the summer concert season and the National Final.

We are also collaborating to produce some exciting concerts during the coming year."
