The death has been announced of Eric Lindsay, one of the UK's most respected contest administrators and officials who passed away on Monday, 7th May.
A committed Christian, Eric was a playing member of many local North West bands over half a century, including Calander Cables, Prescot, Rainford and Parr amongst others.
Dedicated
A spokesperson for the North West Counties Brass Band Association told 4BR: "Eric was a dedicated and enthusiastic official at numerous competitions, including regional events such as Fleetwood, Brass at the Guild and Tameside Open.
He also officiated at the English Nationals, National Youth Championships and Pontins, as well as the British Open Spring Festival and British Open Championship."
They added: "Eric was also a stalwart committee member of the North West Counties Brass Band Association and Lancashire Contests of which he was a highly respected treasurer."

Funeral
The funeral will be held on Tuesday 22nd May (10.30am) at the Methodist Church, Atherton Street, Prescot.
