Young singers involved with Salvation Army music making across Chicago will join with the Illinois Brass Band to give the world premiere performance today (28th April) of Philip Wilby's serene setting of Isaac Watts' text, 'Wondrous Cross'.
Originally written as a choir and organ/piano composition it was subsequently amended for Enfield Citadel Band in 2009.
Both the version for brass band and choir, and the full brass band version have since been recorded by Enfield Citadel Band — the latter being published and performed regularly around the world.
The premiere of the brass band and choir version is part of a special concert collaboration between the Metropolitan Music & Gospel Arts Department led by Dr. Jonathan Corry and the Illinois Brass Band conducted by Steven Squires4BR
