Youngsters to be encouraged to compete at Music Festival

Entries are now open for the 49th Bailey Lane End Music Festival — so why not sign up and have a go!

  The contest is hoping to attract lots of new young players to perform

The A.W. Parker (Drybrook) Band will once again host the Bailey Lane End Music Festival, which will take place on Saturday 23rd June. The event will be based at the Five Acres High School in Coleford.

Encourage

A spokesperson told 4BR: "Bailey Lane End Music Festival is open to soloists, duets and groups of children of all ages.

The aim is to encourage young players to take part and experience performing, although prizes are awarded in all nine solo, duet and quartet sections. We also encourage adults to play their first public solos in the open section."

Adjudicator

The highly respected David Hayward will adjudicate the event which will feature nine classes for children and adults of all ages and abilities, including duets and groups as well as an open section with no age limit.

The band is looking forward to a strong entry and are hopeful of once again increasing numbers as the competition grows

The closing date for entries is 11th June.
