The forthcoming appearance by Black Dyke at Lincoln Cathedral on Saturday 28th April (7.30pm) has received another major boost with the news that the renowned American composer William Himes (above) will be flying from his home in the USA to listen to the world premiere of his new work 'Intrepid Overture'.
Topped off
The hat-trick winning Yorkshire band's appearance follows a successful Arts Council England 'Grants for the Arts Programme' award secured by the Market Rasen Band, and according to spokesperson Philip Pearson, the visit has topped off the whole event, one which includes day time workshops provided to over 100 participants.
"This is a wonderful gesture by such a great composer,"he said. "It was such a thrill that he agreed to write for the event and his music has always given so much enjoyment.
I've been fortunate to have played some of it in my playing career so this is an extra personal treat, whilst I'm sure it will also resonate with the audience in the magnificent surroundings of Lincoln Cathedral."

Incredible sounds
In addition to the Himes world premiere, other works to be featured will include a world premiere from Paul Lovatt-Cooper, Walton's majestic 'Crown Imperial' and the overture 'Nabuco', 'Intrada: Ein Feste Berg', a host of solo features and the incredible sounds of Wagner's 'Procession to the Minster'.
