Scarr interest increases in Forest of Dean

There has been a great deal of interest from bands to take part in the first Scarr Bandstand contest.

Scarr
Thee has been a great deal of interest

There has been a great deal of interest shown in the new outdoor contest aimed at Second, Third and Fourth Section bands that will take place in the lovely rural setting of the Forest of Dean in Gloucestershire in June.

It follows the refurbishment of the Scarr Bandstand which lies in a natural amphitheatre surrounded by the beautiful woodland of the Forest close to the ancient market town of Coleford near the outskirts of the small hamlet of Sling.

Prizes

Following the success of a number of community events in 2017, the Friends of Scarr Bandstand have launched the event which will take place on Sunday 10th June. If it happens to rain, an indoor alternative is available.

There will be a prize fund of £1,500 for the Second, Third and Fourth Section bands to compete for with their 20 minute entertainment programmes, which must include one solo item.
