Seindorf Beaumaris Youth Band has gained financial support from a leading local company to help in its bid to become European Youth Champion in Utrecht in May.
Ethos
The Welsh representative has linked up with Peninsula Home Improvements, with company CEO Ken Grayson telling 4BR: "This is both a massive achievement and undertaking for the band with 49 members plus instruments travelling to The Netherlands.
When we heard they needed support I was only too happy and willing to sponsor them. The band has always been an integral part of the community, not only in Beaumaris but across Anglesey, and this sits very comfortably with our ethos of supporting and investing in the society in which we work and live.
I hope they have a superb time in Utrecht and we wish them every success in the competition."
The logistics of the trip will see instruments sent ahead by mini-bus on Thursday 3rd May while band members and many parents fly out the following day to prepare for the contest on the Sunday.
Grateful
Band MD Gwyn Evans told 4BR: "We are delighted to have such a prestigious local firm supporting us and are extremely grateful to Ken and Peninsula Home Improvements for their sponsorship.
Being selected to represent our town, island and nation is something we are extremely proud of.
As well as playing in the competition the band members will be able to take part in forums, workshops and masterclasses which is an invaluable opportunity for them to perfect their music studies, so it really will be a trip of a lifetime."
