The International Brass Band Summer School has confirmed that Paul Lovatt-Cooper will be their Composer in Residence at their 2018 course to be held at the University of Wales in Swansea from Sunday 29th July to Saturday 4th August.
Attraction
IBBSS Course Director Prof Nicholas Childs told 4BR that being able to offer delegates the chance to work with leading figures in the banding world is one of the reasons why the course continues to attract brass band players from all corners of the globe.
"It's going to be fantastic to programme Paul's music into the series of works that will be played by both the Sovereign and Prestige Bands on the course this year, and for the delegates to find out more first-hand how he is inspired and how he works.
This one of the great strengths of the Summer School — being able to offer our delegates world class tuition from the very best in the brass band world. That's why we also attract delegates from all corners of the banding globe — it's an experience that benefits then as players, opens up their potential and is great fun."
