Great Yarmouth Brass is celebrating after they claimed qualification to the Fourth Section National Final in Cheltenham in September.
Numbers missing
The band travelled to a bitterly cold and snowy Stevenage to take part London & Southern Counties Area contest under MD Colin Swaep, and despite having players missing (they took to the stage with just two front row cornets and three tubas) they still came third to return to the finals for the first time since 2007.
The youngest member of the band was at the initial launch of GY Future Brass, so it was fantastic to have them do their first official contest with the senior band and come away with this resultspokesperson
Great effort
Spokesperson Penny Gilbert told 4BR: "It was a great effort from everyone involved. The youngest member of the band was at the initial launch of GY Future Brass, so it was fantastic to have them do their first official contest with the senior band and come away with this result."
Great Yarmouth has enjoyed a good contesting year so far, with a fourth place finish at the Butlins Mineworkers Championship in January, followed by this excellent result and the prospect of a busy Spring and Summer list of engagements.
