Tewit squeeze in first performance appearance

The generosity of York Railway Institute has enabled the new Tewit Silver Band to have an invaluable run out ahead of their Regional Championship debut.ND

The newly formed Tewit Silver Band has managed to squeeze in a first public performance courtesy of the York Railway Institute Band.

Regional debut

Formed in November 2017 the band will be competing for the first time in the Fourth Section of the North of England Championships this weekend, and when they asked York RI at short notice if they could tag along to their locally advertised concert, they were only too happy to accommodate them.

Great

MD Martin Tewit told 4BR: "It was great that they helped us. We managed to play a 20 minute set, which included the forthcoming test piece 'World Tour', so I was over the moon.

It just goes to show the supportive spirit of banding in our area, as it was so valuable for us to take to the stage at least once before the contest."
