Lucky winner gets extra Cory treat

One lucky winner will be able to enjoy Cory's visit to perform at Perth Concert Hall this April.

The Scottish Brass Band Association has announced the lucky winner of its Cory Band VIP Concert Package competition.

The world's number 1 ranked band will be playing in concert alongside the National Youth Brass Band of Scotland in a special 60th anniversary event at Perth Concert Hall on Wednesday 4th April (7.30pm), and Karen Muir from Greenock will now be enjoying the experience, which includes meeting MD Philip Harper and star players backstage as well as getting a signed Cory CD.

She told 4BR: "As somebody who never usually wins anything, you can imagine my delight on hearing this news. I'm thrilled, especially as it comes with the opportunity to meet the band.

I'm really looking forward to the concert as my son is also playing for the first time with the National Youth Band of Scotland, so it's going to be a memorable night for all the family."

SBBA President Carrie Boax was also delighted by the response to the competition and to the interest in what promises to be a great evening of musical entertainment.

Wantage Silver Band

August 20 • Front Row Cornet & Tenor Trombone. We're a friendly, ambitious Second Section band based in South East Northumberland just north of Blyth. We rehearse Tuesdays & Thursdays, 19:30-21:30, and transport can be provided depending on location.

August 18 • Putney and Wimbledon Band are looking for a percussionist, ideally tune although the ability to play an anvil is an absolute must! We play exciting music with lots of percussion so there's plenty to keep you occupied.
