After three and half years at the helm, this weekend's North West Regional Championship will see the final contest performance of Pemberton Old Wigan DW B Band led by conductor, Mike Golding.

Mike will be stepping down from the role due to personal reasons, and leaves after helping the band's long term development of young playing talent.

Consistent success

A spokesperson told 4BR: "Throughout his time Mike has continued to nurture young talent and recruit new players. His wealth of knowledge and experience has led to consistent success, establishing us well within the Second Section.

We are very sad to see Mike go, but as family and work commitments become increasingly demanding he has made the decision that the North West Area will be his last contest."
