Military reinforcements for Blidworth

Two new recruits will add strength to the cornet section ranks of Blidworth Welfare Band ahead of their top flight challenge in Bedworth.

The Nottinghamshire based Blidworth Welfare Band has brought in military reinforcement for their Championship Section assault on the Midlands Regional Championships next month.

New signings

Melissa Ramplin and Sharon Stansfield are the latest recruits, with Melissa joining as principal cornet player and Sharon as bumper-up in time for the appearance at Bedworth.

Melissa is also a Lance Corporal in the Welsh Guards Band, having joined the British Army as a regular musician from the Nottinghamshire Band of the Royal Engineers in 2016.

Meanwhile, Sharon is a former Territorial Army musician who will also be conducting Long Eaton Silver Prize in the Third Section before returning 24 hours later to perform with Blidworth on Kevin Norbury's 'Odyssey'.
