The Nidaross Band recently enjoyed a visit to their bandroom from Cory Band Musical Adviser Nigel Seaman as they prepare for their 15th anniversary concert in April.

Due to a bereavement in MDs Geir Ulseth's family, Nigel made the trip from Wales to work on repertoire ahead of the visit of Cory MD Philip Harper and principal cornet Tom Hutchinson for the special celebratory occasion.

Musical experience

A spokesperson told 4BR: "We enjoyed our rehearsal with Nigel. He's such as a nice person with so much musical experience who really showed us a great deal about the different styles of brass band music making.

The band loved the three hour session of hard work on some really difficult pieces, and Nigel certainly loved the break with coffee and cake!"

Delicious

In response Nigel said: "My thanks went to everyone for such a hard working session. I enjoyed the company very much — and especially the delicious coffee and cake too!

Hopefully I will get to meet and work with the band again and I wish them all with the best with the concert with Phil and Tom!"
