The four semi-finals of the 2018 Band Cymru competition will take place next weekend at the Aberystwyth Arts Centre.
Double header
It is a double-header of action with the first semi final on Saturday afternoon (February 17th) at 2.30pm, when Northop Silver, Cory and the Royal Welsh College Big Band deliver their entertainment sets.
Later the same evening at 8.00pm, it will be the turn of City of Cardiff (Melingriffth), the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama Brass Band and 3D Brass.
The following day (Sunday 18th February) at 2.00pm BTM Band, Tylorstown and Brass Beaumaris will take to the stage, whilst at 8.00pm it will be the turn of Tongwynlais Temperance, Burry Port Town and Cardiff University Jazz Society Big Band.
Potential £10,000
The band who wins the overall title will take away a potential first prize of £10,000. Each of these semi-finalists will receive £500, whilst the series best soloist will also receive an award of £500. The 2016 champion, Tredegar was not eligible to compete.
The semi-finals will be filmed by the production company and competition organisers Rondo Media and broadcast on S4C in March and April.
The international panel of judges will select the four best bands (not necessarily the winner of each semi-final) to go forward to the final which will take place at Swansea University Great Hall in April4BR
