Following a memorable RNCM Brass Band Festival in Manchester last weekend, BBC Radio 3 will be broadcasting extensive highlights from the performances of Cory and Black Dyke tonight.
The broadcast (7.30pm) will feature three of the four pieces that were played by Cory last Sunday afternoon.
World premieres
The Welsh champion led by Philip Harper can be heard performing the world premieres of Christopher Bond's 'Corineus' and the first major work for thirteen years from the pen of John Pickard entitled 'Rain, Steam, Speed'.
Also featured is Philip Harper's 2017 European own-choice work, 'Destination Moon'.
Mealor and Moore in Dyke focus
Black Dyke's appearance on Saturday night included the world premiere of Paul Mealor's 'Paradise' where the Yorkshire champion was joined on stage by the 170 voices of the Sheffield Philharmonic Chorus.
The performance was conducted by the highly respected choral director and organist, Darius Battiwalla.
Prof Nicholas Childs was at the helm for 'Journey into Freedom, 'Un Vie de Matelot' and the world premiere of Peter Graham's 'New York Movie'. His music also appears courtesy of 'Radio City' featuring a stunning performance from trombonist, Peter Moore.
The full two and a half hour concert will be hosted by presenter, Tom Redmond.
