Time running out for European Solo entries

If you fancy your chance of becoming the European Solo Champion, then you had better get your application in before the end of the month.

Utrecht
Time is running out to get your entries in for the European Solo Competition.

The deadline is fast approaching for applications to be submitted to enter the 8th European Soloist Competition for Brass & Percussion instruments.

The competition will be held in conjunction with the 41st European Brass Band Championships in the Netherlands city of Utrecht between the 1st and 3rd May. The closing date is the 31st January.

Set work and own choice

Each competitor selected to perform in Utrecht will give two performances with piano; a set piece and a work of his or her own choice.

The EBBA Music Commission has selected a list of challenging set pieces for each instrument, chosen to enable the competitors to reveal both their technically and musical skills.

The competition is open to performers born on or after 1st January 1989. A maximum of 20 applicants will be selected from video submissions.

High standard

"By having the number of competitors invited to Utrecht limited to 20 we can be sure that the standard will be very high,"Ulf Rosenberg, President of the European Brass Band Association said.

The three finalists chosen by a distinguished international jury will perform a concerto or extended concert-piece also chosen by the EBBA Music Commission with a Championship Section brass band from the Netherlands in a final Gala Concert on Thursday 3rd May.
