Derwent Brass has announced the signing of James Emberley on euphonium.

It follows the departure of Martyn Hoffman, with James making his debut on a CD recording featuring compositions the band commissioned for their anniversary year.

The former Fairey, Milnrow and Newstead Brass player moved to the Derwent area last year, with Band Manager, Chris Leonard telling 4BR: "We were sad to see Martyn leave as he's such a great lad and a fantastic player, but unfortunately the huge commute just became unsustainable."

They added: "We wish him all the very best in his future playing career and now extend a warm welcome to James and are excited about the wealth of experience and talent he brings to the section. We hope his stay with us is a long and enjoyable one."
