It has been announced that the popular Bolsover International Festival of Brass will be hosted by a consortium of local parish councils within the local Bolsover district later this year.

Worldwide interest

Following the success of previous events, Shirebrook Town Council, Clowne Parish Council and Elmton with Creswell Parish Council, will work together with Festival Manager and event founder Carole Hirst, to run the championships which have gained worldwide interest in the past few years.

The three councils have been associate sponsors of the festival for the last three years, with the move seen as one that secures the future of one of the most progressive brass bands event in the UK calendar.

Prosper

A spokesperson told 4BR: "We are very excited at the prospect of taking over the festival and to be working alongside Carole in ensuring that it continues to prosper.

It has been a beacon of excellence for our communities and one that has been enjoyed all around the globe. We are very proud to be associated with it in this progressive way."

4BR has been informed that a record entry is anticipated for the event to be held at the Heritage High School in Clowne on Sunday 30th September.

Entries are now open for all sections, with 4BR understanding that over 30 bands have already signed up to compete. Bands interested are advised to get their entries in as soon as possible4BR
