The forthcoming Butlins Mineworkers Festival in Skegness will see a welcome reappearance not just of a number of competing bands from 2017, but also of the truly one-offs, 'The Amazing Bavarian Stompers' — performing better than ever in their fifth decade of oompah entertainment.
Delighted to return
"We were delighted to perform at Butlins last year and to return again,"their iconic accordion playing leader Frank Chislett told 4BR.
"Playing at brass band events such as Butlins and all those years ago at Pontins has always been great fun because the audience has always wants to have a great time, but we know they also appreciate our playing."
Halfway fan
Frank revealed that as he lives about halfway between the bandrooms of Black Dyke and Brighouse & Rastrick, brass banding is also in his blood. "Halfway between them both means I can keep everyone happy!"he said with knowing laugh.
"I'm a huge fan of brass bands, especially the sound and the people who are involved with them. That's what makes an event like Butlins so brilliant."
Stomper favourites
Frank also promised that there will be plenty of 'Stomper favourites' on show on Saturday evening at Skegness.
"We have to, otherwise people may complain! The team has been together now for more years than we care to remember, but we still have just as much fun, and with a renaissance in Bierkellers around the country we are busier than ever."

Multiple venues
He added: "We're even doing special multi-media Burgermeister Oompah Shows so we can be heard in action at multiple venues all at once.
After starting out as far back as 1971, and having gone through all those years of Irish and Australian themed pubs, it seems we are back in fashion once more — and we couldn't be happier!"
