This week saw the first rehearsal for the newly formed Tewit Silver Band, based on the outskirts of Harrogate.
28 keen musicians took part in what was described as a great success, including parents, ex-Tewit youth members and many people who hadn't played for years.
Returning principal
One of those making a welcome return to play principal cornet was local Harrogate musician Owen James, who last played in the role for the Tewit Youth Band 20 years ago.
MD, Martin Hall, told 4BR: "I've been totally overwhelmed with the support after taking on the project, so to have so many musicians come together to turn this dream into reality was truly amazing.
It was such a great success, and we can't wait to get on the contest stage for the first time hopefully at the North of England Area Championships next year."

Thanks
He added: "Our thanks go to South Milford and Wakefield Metropolitan Bands for lending us instruments, and to local businesses for the initial financial support that's been needed.
