Judges to showcase Area test piece contest aid

The Association of Brass Band Adjudicators will present their annual Regional test piece workshop in January — and its free!

The Association of Brass Band Adjudicators (AoBBA) has announced that their annual Regional Test Piece Workshop will be held following their Annual General Meeting on Sunday January 21st 2018.

Time and place

It will take place at the home of Foden's Band at Bradwall Village Hall, Sandbach, Cheshire (CW11 1RG)

The free workshop will start promptly at 1.00pm and will cover the test pieces for Sections 2, 3 and 4.

The presenters (to be announced at a later date) will explore each work in detail; pinpointing possible pitfalls; suggesting rehearsal techniques; and discussing performance approach.

Simone Rebello will be on hand to consider the percussion requirements and technical challenges of each work, with time set for individual questions.

Open to all

The workshop is open to all with an interest in the pieces — from players to brass band lovers with the Association aiming to provide an informative insight into each work as a useful tool to aid contest preparation.

CLEETHORPES BAND CIO

April 3 • We have vacancies for a trombone player and a bass player. Cleethorpes Band rehearse near the seafront on Thursday and Sunday evenings. Placed 3rd in the NOE 4th section. Other players are always welcome as we may be able to switch positions around
