Cockerton Prize Silver Band has announced the appointment of Peter Elcoat as their new Musical Director.

"The band is really enjoying working with Peter, as we prepare for a very busy period of Christmas engagements,"Band Manager Neil Parkin told 4BR.

Military background

Peter comes from a military background, having first joined the Territorial Army in 1991 playing cornet, before progressing onto French Horn in the Light Infantry Burma Band.

Promotion

In 1999 he transferred to what is now the Band of the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers. During his Army career, Peter has performed overseas on numerous occasions across Europe and America and was promoted to Warrant Officer (Class 2) in December 2016 and is the current Band Sergeant Major and Director of Music.
