The Scottish Brass Band Association has presented Stuart McNab with a special award in recognition of his services to brass bands spanning over 60 years.

Stuart began his playing with Kirkintilloch before eventually moving to Creetown to start work as a teacher at the local Douglas Ewart High School in 1983 and landing the role as Musical Director.

Debt of gratitude

John Boax of SBBA told 4BR: "Stuart has given remarkable service not just to Creetown, but to the whole of Scottish banding.

It's people like him that make brass banding music making such a wonderful community based activity — and one that has a lasting impact on so many people's lives. The whole of Scottish banding owes him a great debt of gratitude."

The photo was taken after Stuart's last concert with the band after a remarkable tenure of 34 years as Musical Director.
