The Virtuosi GUS Band has announced the appointment of Matthew White as their new solo euphonium.
The former Fairey, Cory and Tredegar star has most recently been playing with Desford, but joins the Midlanders in time for their appearance at the National Finals at the Royal Albert Hall.
Couldn't say no
Matt told 4BR: "Since leaving Tredegar and relocating to Northampton at the end of last year I've really missed full time banding.
It's been a real pleasure performing with Desford in the last few months, but when the opportunity to join Virtuosi GUS as principal euphonium arose, I just couldn't say no."
He continued, "It's great to see so many students and alumni of Birmingham Conservatoire where I tutor, and Northamptonshire Music and Performing Arts Trust, playing in the band. Virtuosi GUS have a fine record of promoting youthful talent and such a bright future with great connections like these."
Wealth of musicianship
In response Musical Director, Adam Cooke added: "I'm delighted that Matt has joined us. He's a great addition to our line up of top class soloists, and he brings a wealth of musicianship and experience to the seat."
The band also took the opportunity to thank outgoing incumbent George Bruce, for his sterling work during his short but fruitful tenure with them.
