Listen to the Band: 19th September
The Radio 2 Young Brass Award Winner 2017, trombonist Isobel Dawes, joins the world's number 1 ranked band, Cory, for their Sunday 'Brass Band Gala Concert' appearance at Symphony Hall, the day after the 165th British Open Championship, playing 'Rhapsody for Trombone' by Gordon Langford.
The judges at the prestigious BBC Radio 2 event were unanimous in their praise of Isobel's playing earlier in the year — describing it as displaying, 'mature musicianship' and showing 'a direct connection with the audience'.
Recorded in Symphony Hall, Isobel also tells Frank Renton about her experiences of the competition, of playing with Cory and of her future plans.
Cory is conducted by Philip Harper and includes his exciting arrangement of a Nordic Polka plus the classic cornet solo 'Paragon' played by Tom Hutchinson.
