The Northop Band has publically thanked conductor Paul Hughes, after he led them to the Welsh National Eisteddfod title in Anglesey last weekend.
It proved to be a fitting way to close his year long tenure with the band before heading to Norway to start a new musical career, as Northop claimed the £750 top prize and the ornate Cwpan Catrawd Tiriogaethwyr Sir Y Flint trophy for the first time since 2007.
12 months work
Band spokesperson Andrea Egginton told 4BR: "Paul has worked with us for just over 12 months with our first collaboration at the 2016 Brighouse Hymn & March contest.
Since then we have also enjoyed performances at Liverpool Philharmonic Hall and Liverpool Cathedral and a number of other projects.
The victory at the National Eisteddfod meant a great deal to the band and was a wonderful conclusion to what has been an excellent partnership."
