Park Life proves great success

The Music in the Park event proved to be a great success with players, listeners and Drivers...

Park Life
Five bands provided wonderful entertainment for the audience at Barnwell Country Park

Barnwell Country Park, near Oundle in Northants, was the host for a wonderful day of music making called 'Music in the Park'.

The day was supported by the Arts Council of England and Northants Community Foundation with help from sponsors such as East Midland Music.

Excellent entertainment

Five bands provided excellent entertainment for the audience with their well-chosen 50-minute programmes of easy listening music — with not a single repeat. The event was rounded off with a massed band performance of the specially commissioned work, 'Driver's Walk' written by composer Christian Overhead.

The work was very well received by players and listeners alike, although Christian admitted to 4BR that he felt 'a bit nervous'.

Our thanks go to the bands and the audience who did have to battle against some rain, but overall it was splendid to hear so much great music making in such a beautiful surroundingSpokesperson.

Delighted

A spokesperson for the event told 4BR: "We were delighted by the way the day panned out.

Our thanks go to the bands and the audience who did have to battle against some rain, but overall it was splendid to hear so much great music making in such a beautiful surrounding."
