Derwent Brass has announced the signing of Catherine Johnston as their new flugel player. She takes over from Richard Bates who has taken a sabbatical from playing.
Superb player
A band spokesperson told 4BR: "As a Derby girl now living in Belper, it's very much a home-coming. She is a superb player with a great CV that includes numerous awards and achievements.
Catherine has studied and played with a number of high class ensembles and is RNCM graduate with so much international experience as an Erasmus exchange student to the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo, studying with Jonas Haltia, Tine Thing Helseth, and Anthony Plog."

New cornet player
Derwent also announced the signing of on second cornet of Emily Bramble, previously the principal cornet of Cockerton and Darlington Youth Bands, and more recently solo cornet at Cockerton Silver.
