Five bands will provide the musical entertainment at Barnwell Country Park in Oundle (above) in Northamptonshire this Sunday (16h July), with a premiere of a new work by award winning composer Christian Overhead at its centrepiece.
Raunds Temperance, Rushden Town, Stamford Town, Thrapston Town and Yarwell & Nassington Britannia Band will provide the 'Music in the Park' — starting at 10.30am and lasting until the early evening.
Driver's Walk
Organised by the 'Friends of Barnwell Park' the day will be rounded off with a massed band concert that will include a first performance of 'Driver's Walk' which was specially commissioned for the event by Steve Driver, a generous benefactor.
A spokesperson told 4BR: "We hope to be able to attract lots of people to come on the day, with the bands each providing their own 50 minute programmes before coming together for the wonderful musical finale.
There are plenty of other attractions too, but the music will be at its centre. We have got local radio coverage and it is our hope to be able to help promote further brass band events here in the future."
