Two great supporters of Thoresby Colliery Band have taken on new roles to carry on helping the Midlands band.

The Thoresby Band has been enjoying some wonderful help from their new Vice Presidents

Thoresby Colliery has welcomed two of their strongest supporters to their new roles as Band Vice-Presidents.

Clumber Park residents Tee Dean and Jon Taqvi have played major part in helping the band with their successful fund raising activities over the last two years, including the gift of a van through their business ventures.

Strong footing

Band Chairman George Kennedy told 4BR: "The help and support of Jon and Tee has been immeasurable, and their appointment along with stalwart former player Malcolm Bevan as President puts the band on a very strong footing."

Diehard supporters

Jon added: "If anyone had told us that within two years we'd turn into diehard brass band enthusiasts, I'd say they were mad. The friendship shown to us has been wonderful to say the least."

John and Tee are relocating to nearby Ravenshead, with the band presenting them with a housewarming gift of a whisky decanter and glasses to commemorate the move and the new roles.
