Bolsover Festival of Brass draws announced

The chance of winning great prizes, enjoying a superb contest day and getting your performance broadcast worldwide has meant waiting lists at Bolsover, as the draws are announced.

  Yorkshire Imperial DUT will be back to defend their title to a worldwide audience

The draws have been announced for the 2017 Bolsover Festival of Brass, which takes place on Sunday 1st October.

The event has grown in importance and popularity over the last few years, with competitors attracted by generous prize funds, excellent facilities and the opportunity for their performances to be broadcast to the banding world.

Norwegian visitors

Such has been demand for places, that there is currently a waiting list of 15 bands wishing to take part, whilst this year the contest welcomes overseas visitors Manger Old Stars Band from Norway.

Supported by the First Art organisation, a collective of four cultural and community organisations working within the former coalfields of NE Derbyshire and NE Nottinghamshire, the contest day starts at 9.00am with the first bands taking to the two stages at the Heritage High School in Clowne.

Entertainment sets

Championship, First, Second, Third and Fourth Section bands will each perform as a 20 minute entertainment programme with Un-registered bands presenting 15 minute sets.

The adjudication this year will be in hands of Steven Mead, Thomas Wyss, David Thornton and Mark Wilkinson.

The broadcasts will be aired through the www.firstart.org.uk website.
