Black Dyke's worldwide profile is set to gain a significant media boost this month with the news that they are to be part of a brand new Sky Artsc documentary about The Beatles.
Record label
'The Beatles, Hippies and Hells Angels — Inside the Crazy World of Apple' will look back at the iconic pop group's famous record label — one that the Queensbury band was signed to in 1968 after meeting up with Paul McCartney to perform on the release of 'Thingumybob' followed by 'Yellow Submarine', which became a global hit.
Almost 10 years later the band once again teamed up with Paul McCartney to record a track for the Wings album 'Back to the Egg'.
In September 2016, they were invited to appear on television programme documenting the rise of Apple Records and once more recorded 'Yellow Submarine' at Salts Mill in Saltaire in Bradford, where they recorded the original hit in 1968.
Immense
Black Dyke Director of Music Prof Nicholas Childs told 4BR: "This has been one of the most significant television projects the band has been involved in. The Beatles impact on popular culture is simply immense and for the band to have played a small part in it is something to be very proud of.
The programme recognises that fact and recalls an amazing period in British cultural and musical life."
