Cory to go comparing

Cory will be joined by the one and only Gino Compario for their latest concert promotion

Cory
Cory will be comparing their talents up against one of the nation's favourite singers

The world's number 1 ranked band will be joined by one of the most familiar faces and voices in the UK at their forthcoming concert at Swansea's Grand Theatre on Saturday 17th June (7.30pm)

The band will be joined by Wynne Evans, who as his alter-ego is the moustache twirling operatic tenor Gino Compario who sings the theme tune to the 'Go Compare' adverts on the television.

Classical chart topper

However, Wynne, who studied at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama and the National Opera Studio in London, is also an award winning broadcaster on BBC Radio Wales and television, has topped the Classical Music charts with his debut album 'A Song in My Heart' and a few years ago learnt to play the euphonium for a special Radio Wales event celebrating Welsh brass bands.

Most recently he sang the role of Piangi in the 25 year anniversary performance of 'The Phantom of the Opera', broadcast live from the Royal Albert Hall to cinemas worldwide.

Initiative

The concert is the latest in an Arts Council Wales backed initiative by Cory to bring new audiences to brass banding — one which has seen them travel to all corners of country in the past couple of years, with a great 'taster' promo video already ensuring as many people as possible know what great entertainment is in store.

This time they will also be joined by the Welsh actors and performers Di Botcher (Downton Abbey, Sherlock, The Thick of It) and Craig Gallivan (star of Footballers Wives and the Sky comedy Stella) in a special concert that features the band accompanied by stunning lighting and multi-media effects.

Family evening

A Cory spokesperson told 4BR: "Taking to the stage with Wynne, Di and Craig is going to be fantastic. It's a family evening of music making that everyone can enjoy — and it's not to be missed.

This is what reaching out to a new audience is all about — great starts backed by the best band in the world."
