A new work by composer Paul Lovatt-Cooper will help Derwent Brass celebrate its 25th anniversary in a special concert in Derby next weekend.
Remit
Entitled, 'Beyond Heavens Gates', it will receive its world premiere under the baton of MD Keith Leonard in a programme of music from stage and screen, with Paul telling 4BR: "Having both conducted and worked with the band in the build-up to this concert I'm thrilled with how the new piece is sounding.
The remit was to give them a finisher to entertain with, so that's what I've hopefully done. The band sounds great and I hope the audience enjoys it."

Familiar presence
A band spokesperson replied: "It's been great to work with Paul once again. He has been a familiar presence in the bandroom and so he knew exactly what we wanted. It's a cracker and we're sure it's going to be a firm favourite with the type of audiences we attract to our innovative concerts."
They added: "This has already been a special year for the band, with more to come. Any former players and past members who wish to come and help us celebrate should just get in touch or get along to the Derby Theatre on 3rd June. It would be great to see them there."
