As part of its BBC Music Day celebrations, on Friday 9th June, BBC Radio 2 is on the hunt for a brass band to be featured on its airwaves.

And as the dedicated day to showcase live music coincides with Whit Friday, what better way to showcase brass bands at what is dubbed 'The Greatest Free Show on Earth?'.
If you are definitely going to compete in the Saddleworth & Oldham District and from the United Kingdom, then you could be in with a chance of appearing on 'Listen to the Band'.
Tuesday 8th May is deadline day
And with the deadline of next Tuesday, 8th May on the horizon, all bands have to do is compile up to 500 words explaining why your brass band best illustrates the theme of the power of music, using personal stories and examples, and explain why your band deserves to win this award.
You will also have to provide an audio recording of your band performing one published song or a well-known brass band piece of music. The following file formats will be accepted: MP3, M4A, WAV up to 10MB. Video recordings will not be considered.
Finally, A name, age and a contact telephone number for each member of the band.
Any British based band competing in Saddleworth on Whit Friday will be eligible & all you have to do is send in a recording and an explanation of why you should feature on BBC Radio 2's Music Day on Friday 9th June 4BR
