Trombone star Lito Fontana will be enjoying something of a personal celebration at the European Championships in Oostende this weekend, after he heard news that his award winning CD 'A Mi Manera' had notched up its 1000th sale.
Recorded with Brass Band Fribourg from Switzerland and conducted by his great friend Dr Robert Childs, it features him playing 11 tracks from composers such as Arturo Sandoval, Astor Piazzola, Osvaldo Farres and Ramon Carrera amongst others.
Inspired
Inspired by the beautiful surroundings of his home on the Adriatic coast of Italy, the recording is a very personal tribute to his father who supported his love of music making wherever he went on his travels around the world.
Thrilled
Lito told 4BR: "I am thrilled by the news and hope to record many more CDs with great friends such as Dr Robert Childs and Brass Band Fribourg.
I will now have something extra to celebrate in Belgium as I support Italian brass banding, which has also had a year to remember since our first National Championships in Ascoli Piceno."

Building
He added: "My next steps are to carry on helping to build the Italian brass band movement as well as look forward to being a special guest at the International Trombone competition of Alsac and at another event at the famous Donau Brass Festival together with Stefan Schulz and Dietmar Kubelbock."
