Newly crowned North West Regional champion Foden's has announced the appointment of Jonathan Bates as their new solo horn. The former Black Dyke player will join from Grimethorpe in early May.
Vacancy filled
Speaking about the appointment, Band Manager Mark Wilkinson told 4BR: "We are extremely pleased that Jonathan has joined to fill a vacancy that has existed since last August.
We are extremely grateful to Paul Bennett, Heather Linnell and Helen Varley who have all done a fantastic job covering the role during this period of time."
Forward thinking
Jonathan added: "Foden's has always been a forward thinking band with its external projects and collaborations, outreach work in the local community and various recording projects, so this opportunity is an exciting one for me both as a player and composer. "
He added: "Working with Michael Fowles and Bramwell Tovey will be very exciting after some unforgettable years with them at the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain. I'm also looking forward to some fresh challenges on this side of the Pennines!"
