Newtown looks for march and hymn tune entries

The sixth annual Newtown March & Hymn Tune contest will be run again this year in the splendid mid-Wales town — so make sure you get your entries in.

mARCH
Not quite London but the Mid Wales town of Newtown will host a great march & hymn tune event

Following last year's successful event, plans are now well in hand for the sixth annual Newtown (Mid Wales) March & Open Air Contest to be held on Sunday, 11th June in Newtown Hall Park.

Similar format

The event format will be similar to previous years, with a march along the local High Street into the park, with a prize also given for deportment.

Bands will then play an own choice quick march, a hymn tune from the red 120 Hymn Book and one other entertainment piece. The popular 'massed bands' march item will be repeated again.

Prizes

The competition will be for bands graded in the First, Second, Third and Fourth Sections nationally, non-registered bands and youth and training bands, with a generous prize fund and many awards.
