The National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain (NYBBGB) is to hold a free Open Day for young players and music teachers.
It will be held on 11th April, at Uppingham School in Rutland, and hopes to inspire brass and percussion players aged 8 to 18, to consider applying to audition for the 80 strong band.
Opportunity
The day will also offer the opportunity for youngsters to play with the band, receive tuition from expert coaches, and audition if they wish.
Those not currently old enough audition for the NYBBGB, will be given the opportunity to audition for the National Children's Brass Band of Great Britain (NCBB) — the exciting musical sibling of the senior ensemble.
Tutors for the event include Tom Hutchinson (Cory), Owen Farr (Brass Band of Battle Creek), Brett Baker (Black Dyke), Les Neish (Brass Band of Battle Creek) and Mark Landon (Foden's).
Bramwell Tovey
Attendees will also get to perform under the baton of Artistic Director Bramwell Tovey, Musical Director of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra.
Philip Biggs, the NYBBGB's administrator, told 4BR: "These fantastic Open Days are designed to inspire all those attend, and we would encourage anyone with an interest in developing their playing to get in touch.
The National Youth Band organisation offers a wonderful opportunity for young players that should be grabbed by both hands."
