Full news reports and results are now on 4BR from the West of England Regional Championships held in Torquay on the weekend.

4BR Editor Iwan Fox made the trip down the M5 for the two days of excellent competition, run splendidly by the West of England Regional Committee under Championship Controller Sue Oldfield and her team.

Warm welcome

Not only was there the usual warm welcome to visitors, but there were special mementos too for every player who took part, with special uniform lapel badges produced in recognition of it being the 65th Championships.

Meanwhile, the stages at the Riviera Centre were also brightened up with brand new stage and stand banners, with each band's performance officially recorded for posterity (and future debate!) by Chorum Recordings.

In addition there was a fantastic response to the latest 'Swab for Sykes' Campaign — (above) with the trombonist and his family on hand to get willing supporters to sign up for the DKMS Blood Cancer Stem Cell research — the result of which saw well over 300 people pledge their support.
